Blog assignment for the Website Scavenger Hunt (8th Grade Math & Algebra)

Go to the Flash Mind Reader and follow the instructions on that page. In the space provided on your Scavenger Hunt worksheet (#6) write down your starting "two digit number", the sum of the two digits of your number, and finally the difference between your starting number and that sum - the difference is your final number (a sample calculation is provided on the Mind Reader site).

Did it read your mind? In the space provided below post a comment that includes: your starting 2-digit number, your addition of the two digits and the subtraction of this sum from your starting number, and your final number. Say whether or not the Mind Reader read your mind.

    It got my symbol correct! I have noticed however that it is always changing up the symbols for the numbers... I wonder what this could lead to.

    But I know how it works:
    There are numbered intervals, including 2, 9, 14, 18, 25, 36, 45, 72, 90, and 91. These numbered intervals are set in places so no matter what you choose, including the intervals, the final product or answer you come up with is one of the intervals. On these intervals, the computer will have the same symbol on the numbers, and thus is the symbol that appears.
    So it isn't reading your mind...
    It's just math!
    Want some proof? Do the math, and get a symbol/number. Then, do it AGAIN. If your math is right, it will be the same symbol. If you really are that defiant, try every number! It works.

    Yes it read my mind of course! Because the computer has it to where 9 is the special number. Any number you choose the magic number will be a multiple of 9 so it could be 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72, and 81. Now all those numbers will have the same symbol each time even if they change. ( Because every time that you click the magic ball the symbols change). So the multiples of 9 will always be the same number, along with a couple extra numbers that don't do anything but confuse you and make it more of a illusion. So basically any number you choose will go back to a multiple of 9!

    The simple fact is that the computer has it to where the number you pick will always always always go back to a multiple of 9. It doesn't which number you choose it will always be a multiple of 9!
